If you love nokedli like I do, here is the original recipe .Easy an delicious. If you don’t know what nokedli is, try it and you’ll love it. Nokedli is a traditional  hungarian  dish. Hungarian people love the meat, the paprika and the dumplings.Combine them, add some sour cream and bay leaves and you will get “nokedli’’. A perfect meal for our family.


  • 1 big onion thinly sliced
  • 500 g chicken breast
  • 2 tbs of oil
  • 2 tbs of hungarian paprika
  • 2-3 bay leaves
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 2 tbs flour
  • 3 tbs sour cream
  • a little bit of cold water
  • For dumplings:
  • 3 eggss
  • 4 -5 tbs flour
  • cold water
  • a pinch of salt


Step 01

In a large pan, char the thinly sliced onion until is golden & soft.

Add the chicken breast cut in small pieces, and dust with paprika, salt & pepper.And don’t forget the bay leaves. Stir well and boil for 20 min.

Step 02

While the meat is boiling, you can make the dumplings.

Beat the eggs with salt and gradually add flour.Stir well and add 4-5 tbls of cold water. Whit the tip of a spoon drop the dumplings in lightly salted boiling water for 10 min. Drain the dumplings then fold them over the meat.

In a little bowl mix 2 tbls of flour with 3 tbs of sour cream and some cold water. Add the mixture to the meat and boil until thicked.
