Traditional  Greek Spinach Pie Recipe

It’s time for another traditional european recipe, and these is a old recipe from a old country: greek spinach pie recipe. If you have  ever been in Greek, I’m sure that you know the greek spinach pie: with feta cheese,  greek yoghurt (another greek blessing) and fresh  spring herbs. If you don’t know this traditional greek pie, you have to try it.

Ingredients

  • 500 g spinach
  • 3 spring onions
  • fresh dill
  • 4 eggs
  • 200 g feta cheese
  • 200 g greek yoghurt
  • 150 g meltede butter
  • 12 phyllo dough (pastry sheets)
  • salt & pepper to taste

Method

Step 01

For the traditional greek spinach pie recipe you need a lot of spring herbs: wash them, rinse them, then chop and slice them. In a large bowl mix the feta cheese with the greek youghurt, salt & pepper to taste and the choped herbs.

Add the eggs and stir well.

Step 02

Lay 1 sheet of phyllo dough in a pan and brush with melted butter. Lay another sheet on top and brush it with melted butter. Repeat process with another  2 phyllo sheets.

Spread the spinach mix over the sheets and roll over.

Repeat the process twice (with 8 phyllo pastry sheets). Finally, you’ll have 3 spinach rolls.

Top the spinach rolls with 100 g of greek youghurt and bake for 45 min.
