• 500 g flour
• 3 tbls oil
• 200 ml water
• 1 tbl vinegar
• a pinch of salt
• For filling:
• 1 kg of sour cherry (700g of frozen sour cherry)
• 250 g sugar
• 150 g butter
• 2 tbls bread crumbs (semolina)
• vanilla flavour sugar
• 30 g almonds
• caster sugar for sprinkle

Method

Step 01

In a large bowl mix the flour, oil, the vinegar and a pich of salt. Add the water (warm) and knead till you have a soft dough. The water temperature is very important!! Use warm water, not hot water.  Set aside for 15 min.

Step 02

If you use fresh sour cherrys, remove the pits, then mix them with thw sugar and set aside for 30 minutes.

Step 03

On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough to desired thickness, then sprinkle it  with the bread crumbs or semolina,and  add the cherry mixed with sugar. Roll over the dough, top with almonds and bake for 40 min. Let the viennese  sour cherry pie to cool, then sprinkle with caster sugar.
